Reclaimed History Project Presented at Gārsene Castle

On August 2nd, “Pragiedruliai” together with seven partners visited Latvia, where the international Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027 project “Reclaimed History” (No. LL-00061) continues to be implemented.

During the event at Gārsene Castle, the Latvian project partners presented their completed deliverable.

Participants and visitors were introduced to a new interactive outdoor stand – here, guests can read about the history of Gārsene Castle and test their knowledge in a playful way through virtual card games.

Gārsene Castle, built between 1856 and 1860 by Baron von Budberg, has preserved its authentic façade and rich historical heritage. The nearby Gārsene Evangelical Lutheran Church, built in 1906, is still active today. The adjacent chapel serves as a memorial to the baron’s first wife, Baroness G. Vorsa.

Guests enjoyed free guided tours, outdoor games, and in the evening were treated to a concert by the famous Latvian guitarist Marcis Auzinš and a performance by the young riders of the “Klajumi” stable.

This project, implemented under Priority 4 of the Programme – “Economically active and social Žemgale / North Lithuania” (tourism and cultural heritage), aims to revive the lost and forgotten cultural and historical heritage of Zemgale and Northern Lithuania. The project is co-financed by the European Union together with Panevėžys City Municipality. The total value of the project is EUR 104,787.
