On November 7, the creativity center Pragiedruliai took part in the presentation of the results of the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027 project “Reclaimed History”, held in Akmenė.
During the event, interactive information stands featuring extended reality (XR) solutions were presented in the Akmenė district. These installations allow visitors to see cultural heritage sites that have deteriorated or no longer exist, and to explore their history more deeply through visual content, texts, and audio storytelling.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen partnerships, share experiences, and discuss future joint initiatives in the fields of culture and digital heritage.
The Panevėžys-based partner of the “Reclaimed History” project, together with Akmenė District Municipality and other project partners, is implementing the project under the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027, funded by the European Union. One of the project’s key objectives is the implementation of innovative information technology solutions to promote cultural heritage awareness and tourism development in the region.
As part of the presentation, a modern infoterminal—one of the project’s outcomes—was introduced. It is designed to help local residents and visitors explore the history, attractions, and current events of the Akmenė district in an engaging and accessible way.
The infoterminal offers:
information about the “Reclaimed History” project and its activities,
tourism sites and routes in the Akmenė district,
an upcoming events calendar,
three interactive games,
a selfie feature with selectable background images.
The terminal operates 24/7, features a touchscreen interface, and is adapted for users of all ages, making it a convenient and contemporary tool for discovering the region’s cultural heritage.
The participation of Panevėžys partners in the presentation enabled an evaluation of the implemented solutions, experience sharing, and discussions on further cooperation opportunities in developing innovative cultural and tourism initiatives in Lithuania and Latvia.
