On 28th May at 6:00 pm, we invite you to the opening of the photography exhibition UNSEEN, presenting the work of Volungė Aušra Griškonytė, which explores the invisibility of the LGBTQAI+ community within Lithuania’s social and political system.
For more than 25 years, the artist has photographed members of the queer community. Through her work, she speaks about human rights, acceptance, identity, and the equality that is still not fully guaranteed in Lithuania.
The exhibition reveals intimate portraits and personal stories that invite viewers to rethink the meaning of freedom. Even while living in an independent Lithuania, we are still faced with the question: are we all equally free if some people are denied fundamental rights and protection simply because of who they love?
The thought resonating within the artist — “Queer is light” — becomes an invitation to imagine a future without discrimination: a world that, for many today, still seems like a distant possibility.
Exhibition opening: 28th May, 6:00 pm
Exhibition runs until: 28th June
Admission: Free of charge
