This summer, Latvian photographer Dāvis Drēziņš, who is taking part in the Contours of Place – Photographic Urban Narratives artist residency organised by Prãgiedruliai, is inviting children and young people from Panevėžys aged up to 18 to participate in his creative project.

"I have a vivid childhood memory of my grandfather. Whenever someone asked where we were going, he would jokingly reply, 'Where? Where? To Panevėžys!'

Inspired by this childhood memory, I would like to invite the young people of Panevėžys to take part in my project. I am looking for children and teenagers up to the age of 18 who would like to show me their favourite outdoor place in the city and allow me to photograph them there.

I am interested in how young people see their city—which places they choose, which spaces matter most to them, and what stories those places tell. Every generation discovers a city anew, and I want to see Panevėžys through the eyes of its younger residents.

In the final residency project, I hope to bring together my childhood memory with the way children and teenagers in Panevėžys experience their city today. The resulting photographs will be presented in an exhibition in Panevėžys this autumn."
