On May 31, “Pragiedruliai” together with seven partners visited Rokiškis, where the international project “Reclaimed History” (No. LL-00061) of the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania 2021–2027 programme continues to be implemented.
During the meeting, the administration of the Rokiškis Manor presented two digital solutions aimed at fostering historical memory through innovative technologies. Residents and visitors of the city had the opportunity to experience the virtual reality (VR) film “Sofija and the Emperor”, which immerses viewers in a reconstructed historical narrative and allows them to relive significant moments from the past. They also explored an augmented reality (AR) application that, in real time, reconstructs vanished or altered buildings and historical elements related to the project’s locations.
This visit represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation between institutions, promoting the exchange of experience, and ensuring balanced development of digital outcomes across all partner countries.
The project's innovative solutions will soon be available in Panevėžys as well. In Skaistakalnis Park, the story of Juozas Čerkesas-Besparnis will be brought back to life through augmented reality artistic installations and interactive visual experiences.
Even now, visitors at the site of the former Čerkesas-Besparnis homestead and in Skaistakalnis Park can use smart technologies to travel back in time and give new relevance to local history.
The project presentation for the residents and guests of Panevėžys will take place on August 8, 2025.
We warmly invite you to join us!
